Types of Services
The type of service you choose for yourself or family is dependent upon what is motivating you to seek support. Ask yourself - Why would therapy be helpful now? Or, in the most simplistic - What am I wanting? Your answer helps choose the type of therapy.
A few examples of responses are:
"I want support in making this decision." - Brief Therapy may be ideal.
"I want to understand myself more." - Relational Therapy + Somatic Psychotherapy would be the integrated modalities.
"I don't want to be anxious anymore." - Relational Therapy + CBT based self-soothing skills would likely be the therapy base.
"I want to get along better with my partner." - Individual or Couples Therapy may be what you're wanting.
"I have concern about my child ............" - Child Therapy based in Non or Semi-Directive Play would be the therapy platform.
"I keep thinking about this event that ............" - Somatic Psychotherapy + Relational Therapy would be the integrated modalities.
Many adults, couples, and families may desire more traditional counseling based in relational and somatic psychotherapy. The focus here is on strengthening internal cohesion and developing an increased understanding of yourself. This works to expand your ways of engaging with yourself, within your interpersonal relationships, and within your multiple environments.
Families who have members with special needs may be best served by a therapeutic model designed specifically for their family. This could include: automatic response + behavior modification, training for care providers, family & sibling support, functional assessments, home and day program visits, extended or reduced session time, emotional identification and awareness activities, sensory integration, etc. as a to supplement relational and somatic therapy.
If you are unsure of what types or blend of therapy will best promote your growth, and enhance your overall sense of self, or what would best support your family, child, or adolescent, we can discuss the potential benefits and functions of each service and modality.
Together we will confidently examine and explore what is working well - and what you would like to be different. With great consideration, building upon what is working well, we will implement new concepts and language with the intention of promoting positive integrative growth towards your goals.
