Children & Adolescents

My approach when working with young people is centered in positive regard, curiosity, being genuine, and being transparent.  From this foundation, a powerful and safe relationship develops which supports the young person in the development of insight, appropriate play and engagement, emotional awareness, and increased self-regard.  Depending upon age, various techniques such as interactive gameplay, creative play and expression, movement, emotional awareness activities and worksheets, effect-awareness trees, and more may be incorporated into sessions in addition to talking-base and somatic therapy.

In the beginning meeting monthly with the parents or conservators  is preferred to establish consistency across contexts and support the child's integration of his or her new or refined skills and self-expression.  In building upon the young person's strengths, we begin to explore and understand the underlying reasons which initially brought the young person to therapy.

TOGETHER WE WILL:
  • Strengthen Relational Understanding
  • Develop Effective Emotional Response Strategies
  • Expand and Enrich Strengths
  • Explore Difficulties and Challenges
  • Enhance Confidence and Self-Regard
